Throwback Thursday #2 - ABBA Gold

ABBA Gold is, by some metrics, ancient. It's been in the UK Top 100 Albums for over 15 years (796 weeks at the time of writing) and peaked at #1 (though it currently languishes at #85). Given that it's a best-of compilation, all of the tracks are even older than this, having first put up singles chart success way back in the bygone age of the 1970's. There's a pretty good chance that either you, or someone in your immediate sphere, owns a copy of Gold, and with good reason. Abba wrote very, very good pop songs, and played them ever so well. The combination of relatable tracks ("Gimme Gimme Gimme"), star power ("Super Trouper") and good old-fashioned fun ("Dancing Queen") has led to a timeless collection of the best of the best. So go on, give it another listen - everyone else is doing it, after all!
